The Journey is Long, but…
You start off with a goal in mind. It’s exciting, it’s breathtaking, it’s exhilarating. You realize that the road will be long, yet you determine that it’s worth it. You know that the terrain will be demanding at different stages. But you know if you go with the Lord, he will guide you.
The beginning is rough, with no certain path to take. The first step is to make your way through the brush, the uncertainty. It will take work, but with perseverance and a disciplined work ethic you begin to pave your path. As you break through the clearing, your begin to see the options for your next endeavor.
The journey is hard and often comes down to tough decisions and sacrifice. As you focus on the next step, your decision is simple. Right or Left. If only it was that simple though. To the Left, the terrain is a beautiful landscape of evergreen trees…yet you can’t see what lies ahead or lurks just out of sight. To the Right, the terrain looks sporadic, rocky and dead. Though not appealing to the eye, it’s steady and you can see what lies ahead.
As you make the decision you need to realize again that the Lord will be with you and the Lord will guide you. Along the way, you might be praying and seeking the the Lord’s guidance. In waiting for a response from Him, you might STILL be waiting for His help. Don’t fret, but realize that if the Lord hasn’t given you a direction either way….he’s given you wisdom to make decisions before. He wants you to do it now.
Once your decision is made, your in it for the long run. You don’t know how far you are from your goal. But rest assured that as you continue to walk with the Lord, he will be by your side. The view of your goal will be in sight. At times it will look just out of reach. At times you will want to give up. But stand FIRM. PERSEVERE.
With your goal in sight, you will reach your goal. You must put one foot in front of the other until you reach the base of your goal. But be weary, your not there yet. There are so many that come close to achieving, and falter. They take their eyes off the goal at the last second. They take their eyes off of the Lord, off of the Cross that has guided them to this point.
As you arrive at the base, your focus is up. Not up to the beautiful peaks, but even past the marvelous blue sky. Your focus must be to the heavens above. Your journey to the summit and to the peak of your goal will be exciting, yet hard. But as you reach the peak and look back, you see all that you have accomplished along the way. You see the good and the bad of what you went through. You remember the times when you felt as if the Lord wasn’t there, but you remembered that the Lord didn’t forget you. You didn’t loose your focus.
‘For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.’
- Hebrews 6:10-12
